Determination of Rational Parameters of Profiled Preforms, which are subject to Upsetting with the Use of Flat Plates

Research on processes of upsetting cylindrical preforms with tapered ledges and cylindrical preforms with cylindrical ledges using flat plates. The research established that a clamp can appear in the upsetting process of cylindrical preforms with cylindrical ledges. Determined rational parameters of a preform with tapered ledges, which in the process of upsetting provide the admitted uniformity of strain distribution and a favorable scheme of the stress state.
Keywords: upsetting; profiled preform; flat plates; tapered and cylindrical ledges; strain distribution.

Use of a Self-adhesive Measuring Grid for Researching the Regularities in Sheet Metal Forming Process with Considerable Metal Thinning

Case study on the application of a self-adhesive measuring grid for examination of sheet preforms strain characteristics at the process of cold rolling-off with thinning. The study identified both similarities and differences in the regularities of the current process and the process of strip rolling. A computing method of strain degree determination with the use of a measuring grid is developed.
Keywords: rolling-off; rolling; principal strain; self-adhesive measuring grid; thinning.
