Shortly summarized The main theoretical aspects of deformation with macro-shears. Main types of macro-shears, ways of their initiation and regulation are listed. Examples of the technical solutions to the impact of macro-shears on the macro-structure of metal bars are given. Thermography is a tool of a blacksmith in the assessment of ingot’s macrostructure

Thermography gives you the opportunity to obtain reliable information about the temperature distribution across the surface of the object of study (in this case of the mould) for every moment of the process of crystallization.

Novelty in the process of formation of ingots is «horizontal» crystallization

In the practice of metallurgists of JSC «Ruspolimet» is widely and effectively using concept of «horizontal» crystallization. First of all, the conditions of solidification of the steel allow obtaining ingots free from ?-shaped segregation and with significantly reduced V-shaped segregation. The plant has developed the number of moulds which allow realizing such conditions.

The power loading of mandrels during the process of unrolling of rings

The features of the loading mandrel during unrolling on a modern rolling-mills are shown. There are four schemes of application of external forces on the mandrel due to various forms of ring blanks and profile of displacement amounts in the workpiece during unrolling. The proposed scheme is illustrated with photos of the process of unrolling of rings.

Ultrasonic study of the metal quality of mandrels

The article demonstrates techniques of National University of Science and Technology «MISIS» for identification of macrostate of ingots with the use of ultrasonic flaw detector. There are solved three tasks of quality assessment of the mandrels. As a method of evaluation special ranking of fifteen shafts is selected and then combined into four quality characteristics. Five groups of fractures of mandrels, which exhaust their resources, аre set. Depending on the species-nature of the fracture, the number of rings, laminated by one shaft, is significantly different (to 16,86 times).

Fracturegrams of samples from forgings plates of steel 12ХМФА

The article presents the study of plastic flow of metal during forging with macro-shears. On the basis of the obtained results, there is developed the technology of forging of ingots on an automated forging complex of JSC «Ruspolimet». The tests of this technology are carried out.
Photographs of the surfaces at the place of the samples’ fracture bound to the coordinate created by the special shape of the table. This allows to get information about efficiency of metal forgings in three main areas.
A comparative analysis is made of two forgings, obtained by different technologies: regular and with macro-shears. In conjunction with the test data fracturegrams confirm the effectiveness of the new technology of forging including parameters of crack formation, macrostructure and mechanical properties of the metal.

New appointment of upsetting of blanks by dies with an axial hole

The article discusses the possibility of deformation effects on axial shrinkage cavity, which appears in elongated ingots with a ratio of length to diameter of 4-5 or more (from which the several blanks are recieved). Number of blanks from such single ingot may be 6-7 or more.

The development of the ring blank’s manufacture from alloy ЭП 708-ВД melting in terms of JSC «Ruspolimet»

The results of evaluation of the possibility of ring blanks production in conditions of JSC «Ruspolimet» from in-house melted metal are described. It is shown that the new equipment that is introduced in frame of the modernization program implementation, allows obtaining ring blanks from alloy EP 708-VD, which fully meet the requirements of regulatory documents. Designed technological scheme and its parameters are ensured process stability and variation of characteristics of the acceptance within a narrow range. This result makes it possible to supply products with guaranteed strength properties at level Xaverage - 3?, meet the regulatory documentation requirements.

Influence of heat treatment on technological properties of consumable electrodes for electric melting from alloy ЭП866

There are conducted survey work and performed research and analysis of the microstructure of the alloy in the cast and forged conditions after different regimes of heat treatment. It is selected and scientifically grounded regime of thermal pre-treatment to ensure hardness.
