The deformation theory of strength and fracture of materials with a flat stress state

A deformation theory of the strength and fracture of materials in a plane stress state is proposed, based on the dependence of equivalent stresses on the main relative deformations, determined experimentally or by calculation.
Keywords: strength; equivalent stress; main relative deformations.

Features of the thermal state of short mandrels of the rolling mill
(message 2)

Short rolling mandrels, along with rolling mandrels, belong to the main technological tool of injection molding machines with an automatic mill and are operated in difficult thermal conditions. In this work, we evaluated and compared the thermal state of short mandrels in the process of rolling and running, determined as a result of solving the unsteady heat equation. The admissibility of the temperature gradient in the axial and radial directions and the level of thermal stresses is established.
Keywords: metal forming; seamless pipes; thermal condition of short run-in mandrels.

Finite-element modeling of flow forming processes

This paper is focused on 3D modelling of flow forming of a cylindrical preform with three independent rollers. A detailed formulation of the FEM model is presented. A 3D model of Flow Forming process was simulated using the commercial metal forming software QForm and validated with industrial trials carried out on WF Flow Former – STR 600-316. Results of the FE simulation were analysed for a deeper understanding of the mechanics of the process and discussed in the paper.
Keywords: flow forming; finite-element modelling; QForm; 3D model; complex loading; analysis; triaxiality; contact with the tools.

Investigation of the possibility of using welding in the repair of alloy car wheels

The article discusses the typical types of damage to wheels made of light alloys and ways to eliminate these damage, considers the effect of temperature heating on cast wheels made of light alloys when editing them. The test results of cast wheels of light alloys after their repair for compliance with State Standart R 50511–93 in terms of not exceeding the maximum allowable values of radial and axial runout are presented. The results of tests of repaired wheels of light alloys with and without welding are presented to determine the resistance of a wheel to impact at an angle of 30 ° according to State Standart R 50511–93. Additionally, the results of a study of the condition of a damaged wheel made of light alloys with a visible dent and a crack on the rim are presented using the X-ray method according to State Standart 7512–82 and the color defectoscopy method according to State Standart 18442–80 after repairing this wheel by applying heat and welding.
Keywords: light alloy wheel; radial and axial runouts; heating; welding; silumin; fluoroscopy; color inspection.
